By now you should all have received information regarding conference day on Friday, Nov. 4th.  Thank you for joining us to celebrate your child's achievements to date this year.  Students are expected to join their parents during this conference.  There will be no regular classes for students this Friday, Oct. 4th.

NOTE:  Kindergarten will have conferences on Thursday AND Friday.  So, there is no school for our kinders on both Thursday Nov. 3rd and Friday Nov. 04th.

Thanks to the help of our very own Mrs. Conley, donated clothing will be available for everyone.  Pop on over to the gym and get some great stuff!

Thank you again for being a team member in our learning community.

See you all Friday - à vendredi!

Orange Shirt Day on Friday, Sept. 20th

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day

September 30th

Resources and Ideas

Background: Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event

held in Williams Lake in the spring of 2013. It grew out of Phyllis’account of losing her pretty new orange shirt on

her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of

residential schools happening annually. The date was chosen because children are back in school and teachers

have time to plan, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti‐racism and anti‐bullying policies for

the year. Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and community

agencies to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

SCC Family BBQ Sept 21 and Classroom Walthrough

We would love to see you all there.  Order forms and the amount are due by the latest on Friday.  No late orders will be accepted since this is a catered event.  Face painting and bouncy castle will be available for the students and their siblings.  This is a great time for our school family to get together and socialize.  I am sure it will be a beautiful day!

First SCC meeting - Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Come join us on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the school for our first SCC meeting of the school year.  Everyone is welcome and your support would be much appreciated.

Great Start! Une bonne rentrée!

Happy Labour Day everyone,

Thank you for making our first few days so excellent.  Our entire staff worked tirelessly to make our school start a successful one for students and parents. We were all so excited to see the students, hear their stories and adventures from summer, and get started on the learning journey for this year.  Please watch those packpacks and binders for information and forms to be filled out and returned this week.

A reminder that our school day starts at 8:53 a.m. and ends at 3:37 p.m.  The weather does not look all that favourable for the coming week so we suggest students come with appropriate clothing for possible cold and rainy days.  Please take a look at the attached information document called Attendance Matters.  This poster outlines the correlation between attendance starting from Pre K to student achievement to high school graduation. Thank you for reading this and sharing it as a family.

While I have your attention, this might be a great time to set-up your account for online payments.  You can follow the easy directions after clicking on the Online Payments on the left of the screen.  We will be using Online Payments for most transactions requiring payment.  Thank you to those who have already signed up, it makes life much simpler for you and our teachers can then keep their focus on much more important matters, such as literacy and numeracy.

Please also look for information regardng Cross Country Running, Debating Club, Band, PAA and other groups.  Most sign-up sheets should be available this week in the school for various grade levels.

New School Year 2016-2017

Back to school English Rentree

Hello Students, Parents and Guardians,

We sure hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and taking advantage of summer holidays.  This is just a little reminder that school officially starts for students on Thursday, September 1st at 8:53 a.m.  Our kindergarten students will have a staggered start and parents/guardians should have received communication to advise them of the actual start date last spring.

Students will gather on the playground and be directed by staff according to their grade.  They will then be taken to their classroom by their new teacher for this year.  Busses will run as usual.  If you required information from Transporation, please see the post below for their hours and contact information.  Do not worry about school supplies as we will be ordering in bulk this year in an effort to save money and time.  Students should come to school with a backpack, their indoor shoes and for those students in grades 4 and up, a change of clothes for physical education.

There is still plenty of summer left to enjoy!  Get outside, be active and enjoy the freedom.  Don't forget to keep on reading daily to challenge your brain and keep learning.

See you soon Mironuck Eagles!
