Happy New Year - bonne et heureuse année!

Welcome back, bienvenue, to all our students, families and staff of École Elsie Mironuck Community school.  We hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready to face the new year full of exciting learning and sharing.

This unpredictable winter weather makes it imperative that students are properly dressed for the conditions during outdoor recess including boots, mitts, hats and winter coats. Let us know if you need any of these items as we have a surplus in storage bins just for that purpose.

If you have a child that will be entering kindergarten, please call our Adminstrative Assistant, Sandy Comaniuk to be placed on a list. She will be forwarding registration forms sometime in early March.

Salut - Cbeers!

Remembrance Day - Jour du Souvenir

Jour du SouvenirThank you to Mme Haynes for all her hard work in organizing our Remembrance Day/Jour du Souvenir assembly.  Our MCs Hanako Wolfe, Ella Tate and Angelique Uwiduhaye were poised and very well prepared for our guests and students in both English and French.  Mme Surkan`s class led us in singing O Canada in both languages.

Our guest speaker, Mr. Ponziano Aluma, a former refuge from Uganda presented a Powerpoint presentation on the meaning of Remembrance Day for him as a Canadian.  Thank you also to M. Arenada's class, who along with the help of M. Beckman, presented In Flanders Fields/Au Champs d'honneur in a dramatic tableaus.

Following our two minutes of silence and The Last Post by Connor Stonechild on the trumpet, Ms Zapshalas and Ms Shakespeare`s`classes sang This is My Wish by Jordan Sparks led by Mrs. Lowe-Conley to conclude our assembly.  Thank you to everyone for their respectful behaviour during this time to remember those who have made sacrifices for our freedom.  We encourage our students to take time, along with their families to pause for two minutes tomorrow at 11 a.m. in honour of our veterans and service members.
